Sir,—lt is very pleasing to 8e » '$ M.C.I, s letter, July 21, but even with our present laws, magistrates could be more fearless and severe. However the police are to be congratulated on the large number of prosecutions for ;• cruelty they have brought forward durin" ; the last year or two. For soTne reason cruelty to animals is on the increase, and t the great activity of the police is very gratifying. Pp. ad.
