COMPENSATION CLAIM.
A SETTLEMENT REACHED.
SUM OF £9OO TO BE PAID.
A claim for compensation against the Northern Steamship Company, Limited (Mr. Cocker), made by L. F. St. Clare D'Almeida (Mr. Jordan), was discontinued in the Arbitration Court yesterday, when it was announced that a settlement had been reached between the parties. The claim arose out of an accident in the hold of one of the company's •vessels on November 18,, 1929, when J. St. Claro D'Almeida . received injuries .and died two days later in hospital. Mr. Jordan said an amount of compensation had been agreed upon between counsel. The only outstanding question hnd been that of dependency and that had been subsequently settled, Judgment was entered for the plaintiff for £9OO, including costs.
