M Vincent last evening : —The extensive westerly depression is now crossing tho Dominion, and barometric pressure is low in the South and the southern Tasman Sea. Expect unsettled weather generally, with heavy showers, particularly in western and'southern districts. Hail and thunder probable in places near tho west coast. Chiefly fair weather is expected in east coast districts. Westerly to south westerly winds, strong and squally. Rough seas on the West Coast, especially southward from Cape Eginont. Moderate seas on tho 'east coast. Local outlook: Squally and showery, with colder (cmpcraturesc. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.90 in. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.00 in. Temperatures in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, G3deg.; minimum, 46tlcg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A depression crossed tho Dominion to-day, and another ono is advancing across the southern 'fasman Sea. An anti-cyclonc is covering the northern Tasman and the whole of Australia. Indications aro for moderate to strong winds between southerly and westerly of gale force at places from Cook Strait southwards. Seas in New Zealand* waters rather rough south of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. Modorato to strong south-west winds with rough sea in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather squally and changeable, with showers in most districts, heavy at places from Taranaki southwards, with cold temperatures.
