COUNTRY WEEK TOURNEY.
PROGRESS OF COMPETITIONS. LADIES' SEMI-FINALS TO-DAY. The Auckland Hockey Association's annual country week tourney was continued at tlic llemuera grounds yesterday in uncertain woathcr. The playing areas were slightly holding owing to intermittent showers, but Ihe standard of play was liigb and several lino contests were witnessed. A further round of matches will ho played to-day ill the men's White Ilorse Cup competition, whilo the ladies' Provincial Cup competit ion has been reduced to {lie semi-final stage. '.l'ho section winners in the latter competition were a,? followsSection A, Thames; Section B, Auckland A; Section C, Whungarci; Section D, Auckland B. All the section winners went through the preliminary rounds without a loss.
Following were the results in the men's Whilo J torso Cup competition:—Waipa, 4 (Spiers 2, Woods, Rogers), v. Whangarci, '2 (Hewott 2); Rodney, 2 (Grimmer 2). v. Piako, 1 (Moore); Franklin, 3 (Horo, DadJejion, Muusey), v. Muniupoto, 1 (Wood). PROVINCIAL CUP. Following are the results of ladies' matches played iu the Provincial Cup competition : Section A.—Thames, 1 (Miss Griffin), v. Piako, 0; Franklin A, 2 (Misses Channels, Cathcoto), v. Waikato, 1 (Miss Itoid). Section B.—Auckland A, 3 (Mis. Hamlin 2. Miss Waters), v. Collegiate, 2 (Miss Parsons 2); Kerepeehi, 1 (Misses Courtney 3, Berthson), v. Rodney A, 3 (Misses .Stevenson, Gubb). Section C.—Auckland C, 2 (Miss Mullins 2), v. Franklin B, 2 (Misses Brown. Tate); Wbangarei, 4 (Misses Harrison 3, Derrick), v. Waipa, 3 (Misses Bell 2, White). The Tauranga Hockey Association held seven a-sidi> games this afternoon for tho Kent Cup (men's teams) and Handle Cup (ladies' teams). In the men's games Rovers beat Country, 1—0; True Blues beat United. 2—°. In the ladies' games Aretas beat Triers. 1—0; Diggers beat High School, 3—o. With the points won in running events, which wero also held. True Blues retained tho Kent Cup and High School the Bundle Cup.
