The bells rang in the House of Representatives for the first division of the session at 4.45 p.m. to-day, when the amendment expressing lack of confidence in the Government, moved during the Address-in-Reply debate by tho Leader of the Opposition, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, was defeated by 47 votes to 24. The division list was as follows:
