NAVAL VOLUNTEERS.
INCREASE IN RESERVISTS. TOTAL OF 600 MEN IN TRAINING. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT ] WELLINGTON, Thursday. Tho recent growth of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve has been rapid, said the commanding officer, Captain Middleton. In the, last few weeks the reserve has added three now sub-sections to its strength, the most recently formed being in Cliristchurch. May and June have also seen fho establishment of new subsections in Wellington and in Dunedin. There aro now three sub-sections in Auckland, and have been for some time, three in Wellington, two in Cliristchurch and two in Dunedin. The strength of each sub-section is about 100 men, and the recruiting so far has given the reserve a total of 600 men in training. It is not anticipated that State economies this year will materially affect tho work of tho reserve.
