WOODLANDS DRAINAGE.
AMALGAMATION PROPOSAL. A resolution asking the Government to take no action to amalgamate the six drainage boards in tlio Woodlands swamp area into one controlling body, until the matter had been submitted to the ratepayers concerned, was passed at a meeting of interested farmers held in Auckland yesterday. The suggestion that the matter should be dealt with by Order-in-Council was also discussed, but in view of the laru;e expenditure which would be incurred the meeting considered that this was a very unsatisfactory course to pursuo. The resolution carried was later forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, by the chairman of the mooting, Mr. W. Pi. Ellinghain.
