OFFENCES BY BLACKSMITH. TERM OF IMPRISONMENT. Stated by the police to havo been touring the country on a motor-cyclo which he obtained under a hire-purchase agreement in Hastings, Clarence Nelson John Bovey, aged 27, blacksmith, was convicted in tho Police Court yesterday 'on charges of being idle and disorderly, and of damaging two penny-in-the-slot locks, valued at £3 10s, the property of the Auckland City Council, at Point Chevalier, on Juno 23. Mr. Noblo entered pleas of not guilty. Tlio custodian of the park at Point Chevalier said there would not bo more than 6d in the Jocks when they wero forced open. Ho noticed a motor-cycle in some tea-tree in tho park, and included in tho gear which was with it were a chisel and a knife. Accused was commencing to ride away on the cycle when witness returned with a constable. Tho chisel fiLted tho marks of the locks, while thero wero specks of brass on its edge. Counsel contended, -that there was no proof that accused had -Jieen responsible for tho damage. ■ ; The magistrate, Mr. Ft Iv. Hunt, sentenced Bovey to ono month's imprisonment on the first charge, discharging him on tlio other.
