SOCIAL EVENING HELD<
A very enjoyable programme of musical and dramatic items was presented at tlw French Clnb rooms lar.t evening. There was a large attendance and the various items, which were under !,he direction of Mrs. W. Calderwood, were greatly appreciated. , . The chief dramatic item of the eveinng was this presentation of the. amusing comedy " Tante Octavie," by Paul Bonhomme. The title iole was taken by Mile. J. Chauvel, tho remainder of tha cast being Mine, de Valandra, Mrs.-W. , Calderwood; Eveline de Valandra, Miss M. Wright; Monsieur MaJaval, Mr. P» S.. Ardern; Robert Chalnetoii, Mr. G. Bag- , lejr; Fir min. Mr. Bertram, The- remain- tder of the evening wail demoted to musipal - : items, consisting of violin 1 solos by Mr. R. Muston, scngs by Mitts Marsdon and pianoforte solos by Miss T. Halpin. An address was given by tho 'French Consul, M. Paul Serre, at d an amosing mcro» loguo was rendered by illle. J. Chauvel.
