VALUE TO INDUSTRY.
•Jho opinion that with intelligent training the standard of production in New Zoaland industrial concerns, in relation to the size of the Dominion, would be unsurpassed in any country, was expressed by Mr. S. E. Marler, at a meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Association of Boot and Shoe Manufacturers. Mr. Marler considered that New Zealand was to bo congratulated on the excellent class of. labour employed in industrial undertakings. He gave _an interesting address upon the industrial situation in tho United States, and mentioned tho steps taken by manufacturers there for the technical education of young operatives to a higher standard of efficiency and production. A general discussion on tho question of technical education followed, and a sub-committee was appointed to investigate the position more fully.
