ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The Oncliun.ua Borough Council met Inst overling, the Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, presiding. A deputation ;'roin the Merrilands Hatepayers' Association submitted a list of improvements which thev considered necessary in the new area and details of schemes which they proposed to carry out themselves. The council commended the association'. 1 ; enthusiasm and agreed to its request to have three members on (he proposed Domain Board. The council is to bo represented by the Mayor and Messrs. Gnraghty, Lipscombe, McKendriek, l'ilki igton arid Tonkin.
Application was made for a permit, to erect, further shops on the Rawhiti Road or the Tavva I'oad frontages of land on tho corner of these streets. Tho application was granted, subject to tho plans being approved by (he council. The Auckland Provincial Water Board notified that a conference of all local bodies concerned would be held on 'I bursday evening with a view to again bringing forward the bill for the constitution of the board. It was pointed out that any local body with a wider supply of its own, such as Onehunga, would not he called upon to take water unless it desired to. Mess's. F. W. Mountjoy and W. C. Hill will represent Onehunga. The council endorsed the action of the Mayor in offering to supply water to the Otahuhu railway station at lid per 1000
