DISTURBANCE AT HOUSE.
AN UNWELCOME VISITOR. SEQUEL HEARD IN COURT. A disturbance at a house in Otahului on the evening of Juno 3 led to Alfred Whyo being convicted in tho Otahului Court yesterday of causing wilful damage and of using obsceno language. Ho was fined £2' on each charge, and was ordered to pay £3 17s 6d to cover tho damage and £1 ss, witnesses' expenses. Evidenco was given that about 9.50 p.in defendant called at tho house of a fellow worker in Otahuliu, who was out at the time. He asked for a boarder in the liouso. The wife of the householder said tho boarder was not in, and defendant could not como in. Defendant insisted on coming in. 11<> pushed past tier, and swept a gramophone on to tho floor, damaging it. Ho was put out of the hotiso, and the door was then locked, but defendant broke a glass panel in it and re-entered through tinopening. He was finally induced to go homo. During tho disturbance, accused was using bad language. lie was under the influence of drink. Defendant said he had known the family for some five years, and was a frequent visitor at the house Ho*claimed that ho was being mado the victim of an elaborate plan of blackmail. The magistrate, Mr. P. H. Levieu, S.M., said defendant's storv was nonsensical.
