MR. D. CARROLL'S MISSION.
PLAYS AND ARTISTS WANTED.
With the object of procuring plays and concert artists for Australia and New Zealand, Mr. D. Carroll, tho well-known concert entrepreneur, is proceeding to the United States by tho Aorangi. Ho stated yesterday that, in spito of tho competition of the talking pictures, Florenco Austral had been singing in Australia with as much success as attended tho Krcisler season a few years ago. 110 believes tho talking pictures, far from destroying interest in tho legitimate drama, will create a desire on the part of the public to seo tho artists in tho flesh, and he mentions tho fact ' that Maurice Chevalier was paid £SOOO re-, cently to appear for a week at a San Francisco theatre.
Mr. E. J. Carroll, lio stated, is at present booking concert artists in London for Australia and New Zealand.
