DAMAGE BY FIRE.

PREMISES AT OTAHUHU, An outbreak of fire occurred about 7.30 a.m. yesterday in premises. in the Great South Road, Otahuhu, owned by Mr. W. Lockhard, and occupied by Mr. J. Absolum, tobacconist. Tho Otahuhu Fire Brigade confined the flames to the hairdressing part of tho establishment, which included a billiard saloon. Damage to tho stock was caused by smoke and water. OUTBREAK AT THAMES. OLD UNOCCUPIED BUILDING. [BY TELEGBAPH. —OWN COILRESPOXDENT.] THAMES. Saturday. An old unoccupied . two-storeyed wooden building in Brown Street, Thames, was gutted by fire this afternoon. The damage was confined to the building, and no harm was suffered by tho adjoining premises. The building contained ten rooms and had two shop frontages, neither of which havo had a tenant for many years. There was no insurance on the building, which is owned by Mr. J. Crocker
