IWAIPA CLUB'S MEETING. .MASTER LU WINS STEEPLES. .VICTORY FOR EAGER ROSE. MARBLE KING IN SPRINT. ' The Waipa Racing Club'e Winter Meeting, held at Te Awamutu on Saturday, was favoured with perfect weather. Tho track, although dead, was in excellent order for tho time of. year and very interesting racing was witnessed. The Te Awamutu Steeplechase, tho chief event, was won by Master Lu and the Woodstock Stakes Handicap, the principal flat raco, by Eager Rose. Thore were no outstanding surprises all tho winners being well backed. Three favourites wero success, ful and two ran second The attendance was considered very satisfactory. The totalisator handled £15,600 10s, which was up to expectations for a winter meeting with only sevon races. At the club's December meeting tho totalisator handled £2G.CS9 for eight races. Moun tain Guide Oscar and Red Day were the leaders into the straight, Mountain Guide having to /be ridden out to win by half-a-length from Red Day. .Quir.coma was five lensrths away, third, and Oscasr was fourth. Then came Wako King and Daylight. This was Mountain Guide's first win over hurdles, but it should not be long before he wins again. Carlaris failed to jump well- and was always well back.
