BOYS' ENCYCLOPEDIA.
Sir,—l have received from a wife of a . fanner in a remoto party of the King ; Country a request that I should help her educate her three eldest boys by increasing their general knowledge. by; the/supply of. a boys' encyclopedia. It is the sort of letter ono likes to receive, as it shows tho fine character of so many of our outback farmers and tho difficulties they cheerfully face. The mother says: "It is a struggle to make ends meet —straightened means are a bit of a handicap. Yet the letter breathes a desire that her children's thirst for knowledge should bo satisfied. I have thought that you might bo willing to grant me .a small space to make this request known. I have thought that in the home of some of your readers there might be such an encyclopedia for boys which is no longer of any use to the family. If this request should meet t>j,o eye of such a reader I would be glad to forward tho encyclopedia and put tho farmer's wife in touch with her benefac-< tor. if desired. H. K. ArchdalL.
