LARGE THEFT ALLEGED.
SUM OF £669 INVOLVED. REMAND OF ACCUSED. A charge of stealing a cash-box, containing money, cheques and bonds, of a total value of over £669, from a Wellington firm of solicitors, Messrs. Levi and Jackson, on April 29, was preferred against Frederick Murray, aged 58, tunneller, in the Police Court on Saturday. On the application of Chief-Detective Hammond, accused was remanded until July 5. Murray was charged on Friday, with another man, John Valvai, with theft at Pukekohe. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., said ou Saturday that lie had received advice that Valvai was not a registered dentist, although on Friday he was described in Court as a dentist.
