YESTERDAY'S WEATHER.
CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTH.
Auckland.—The weather was showery yesterday morning, but was fine in the afternoon and evening. The wind was light, from tho south-west. There was a further rise in the barometer during the day and tho reading last night was 3CHbiit. Wellington. —Yesterday was another pleasant winter day in Wellington. A cool southerly was blowing, but an almost complete absence of cloud allowed the suti to sliino brightly After 8.30 p.in light rain fell. Christclmrch.—The weather yesterday was fine in tho forenoon after lOdeg. of frost, but the sky was overcast in the afternoon and there was a cold wind from tho south-west. Tho thermometer did not rise above 49deg. The-barometer vyas still rising- in tho evening, the reading being 30.40 in. The night was overcast and cold with rain threatening. Dunedin. —The weather was very unsettled and cold yesterday. ! There wero several heavy showers, with bi ief periods of sunshine. The wind was Irapli. from the south-west: Tho maximum temperature was 50 degrees. The barometer was steady, at 30.30iu.
