FLIP FLAP FLOO.
The wind it blew, ■ Flip flap floot On the church And in tho steoplo, On the town And on the people, Flip flap floo I It blew their hats down To their feet, It blew their feet Along the street^ Flip flap floo! The steeple cock Ho swung all night, Tho farm-yard cock He crowed all night, Cock-a-doodle doo! Flip flap floo! But birdies, rocking In the tree, Slept as sound As sound could be, And when the sun Rose on tho hill, The weary wind Lay and was still. —From Harvoy Gubb, Port Albert.
As I hurried quickly homeward, For 'twas lato, and growing dark, I collided with a gum tree, With this notice on its bark: "Neat to let, suit married couple, " Strongly built of grass and weed, " Bedrooms, bathroom, pantry, kitchen, " All the fittings ju^ranteed. "Those concerned, apply Bill Sparrow, " Agent, sth branch. Take the lift. " Terms, ten hairy worms deposit, V And a grub per week—a gift." Later, when tho lantern lighted, Through tho bush I camo in qneat, Gone the notice on the gum tree, Two young wagtails owned tho nest. —Gladwys Nollick.
