BANKRUPTCY MATTERS.

ONE DISCHARGE GRANTED*

THREE ADJUDICATIONS.

Bankruptcy matters were dealt wftfl by Mr. Justice Smith in the Supremo Court yesterday. '■••>< >

The application of Alfred Brady, of Edgecumbe, butcher (Mr. C. C. Chalmers), for bis discharge was opposed by the official assignee, Mr. A. W. Watters, on the ground that he had had no report.

Mi\ Chalmers said Brady had been made .bankrupt in June, 1925. He applied for his discharge last August, biifc it was then refused. The debts proved against the estate were £742, and tho assets were put down as £712, although they did not realise that at auction. There was a dividend of 5s sd, which counsel submitted was a good dividend. Mr. Watters said that as it was a long time since the man becamo bankrupt it might not be right to oppose discharge altogether, but he thought it should not be granted immediately. . The bankrupt had started business with debts amounting to £l4O and no assets. - j His Honor said that as Brady had paid a dividend of 5s 5d and had waited five years for his discharge, and as no dishonesty had been shown and no offence against the act, he was entitled to immediate discharge and an order would bo made accordingly. Orders for adjudication were granted against W. Withey, of Henderson, farmer, Charles King, of Henderson, farmer, and D. Moore, of Gisborne, trading as Withey, King and Moore. Walter Leslie Young, of Auckland, merchant, and William Henry Harrison, of Otahuhu, bootmaker, were also adjudicated bankrupt. THE WILTON MiNE. PROGRESS OF DEVELOPMENT.
