DEAR WHEAT.

Sir,—At last someone has; protested against the high price of flour and wheat in New Zealand. Are the people of New Zealand awaro of the fact., that to-day Australian flour is quoted at £8 10s per ton, f.0.b., which is equivalent to #io 10s per ton on the Auckland wharf, provided the Government allowed it into the country duty free. . I quite sympathise with the poultry farmer, particularly in tho North Island, who has to pay 7s 9d per bushel for fowl wheat when milling wheat can be landed from Sydney at a price (duty free) which would enable the Auckland merchants to sell it at 6s <sd per bushel. . Sht&ock.
