THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.
INCREASE IN BUSINESS.
Business was a little brighter on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday with values steadier. Little response was forthcoming to a firm demand for Government and local body investments. In commercial debentures Glaxos, 1945, 6| per cent., woro released 10s easier at £9O 10s. Banks indicated firmer tendencies. Commercials of Australia had sale at the current price, 21s 3d, with offers for more Id firmer than on Thursday at 21s Id. New Zealands changed hands again at 58s, which price was offered for more without success. A riso of Is 6d was registered by Unions, which wero dono at £ll 17s 6d. Offers for Australians of Commerce and English, Scottish and Australians wero a shade better. There was no change in insurance. Movements in loan and agency wero of littlo importance. In coals Renown ordinaries advanced Is with salo at 15s, at which level further supplies wero available. In gas Aucklands were in firmer demand at 25s without attracting sellers. The contributing issue made a currentprico salo at 18s 6d. More business was done in general investments. A salo of Colonial Sugars which took placo lato on Thursday was recorded at tho unaltered price of £42 10s. The firmer prico of 25s was paid for tho preference issue of Electrolytic Zincs, an improvement of Farmers' Tradings, which recorded their first transaction since tho payment of the dividend, were done 9d lower at 8s 3d. Wilsons Cements were obtained 3d cheaper at 44s 9d. Further supplies were quoted at 45s 3d. Mining investments woro quiet.
