VANCOUVER REQUEST.
VISIT TO CITY URGED. SMITH'S REPLY TO BYRD. (Eeceived June 25, 5.55 p.m.) NEW YORK, Juno 25. A telegram from Vancouver says congratulations to Kingsford Smith are being sent on behalf of the citizens. Ho is to be asked to fly there in the Southern Cross on his way to San Francisco. A huge welcome has been planned. On his last visit to Vancouver Smith expressed the hope that he would be able to fly his machine there. In reply to Rear-Admiral Byrd's message Kingsford Smith replied:—Many thank 3. Preparedness undoubtedly is half the battle. I hope to exchange experiences in a few days. Mr. EL Bingham, a member of the Senate, president of the Aeronautical Association, telegraphed to the airmen Your remarkable western flight acrosa the Atlantic has brought a step nearer the certainty of regular transatlantic air services between Europe and America.
