SUPERANNUATION SCHEME.

POSITION OF FIREMEN. INVESTIGATION PROMISED. [by telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. Representatives of fire boards to-day waited on the Minister of Internal Affairs, tho Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, requesting an amendment to tho Fire Brigades Act in order to permit of fire boards contributing to the superannuation scheme. The Minister said the boards were now empowered to come to an arrangement with the National Provident Fund Board, which was to provide for a retiring allowance at the age of 60 years. Ho undertook to have the possibility of the scheme desired by the deputation investigated.
