YESTERDAY'S WEATHER.
CONDITIONS IN SOUTH. Auckland.—The weather was fine yesterday. but the sky at times was dull and cloudy. The wind was light from the south-west and the barometer was practically steady at 30.20 in. Wellington.—Yesterday was u day of bright sunshine, a fresh, cold wind blew from the north and about seven o'clock in the evening it suddenly swung to the south. It brought with it a succession of heavy rain squalls, with a prospect of further rain. Christchurch. —The weather yesterday was variable. Starting with nine degrees of frost, the morning was bright and warm, with a breeze from the east-north-east. Early in' the afternoon the wind veered to the south-west, and it was not long before rain set in, with occasional showers of hail. The thermometer dropped from 58deg. to 38deg. The barometer was rising, the latest reading being 29.80 in. Tho conditions in the evening were unpleasant. Dunedin, —Following a clear and very cold night the weather was extremely wintry yesterday. Heavy rain set in at an early hour in the morning and continued intermittently throughout the day. There wore occasional brief periods of sunshine in the afternoon. The wind waa strong from the south-west. The nwx'mum temperature was 41deg. The barometer was fairly steady, the reading in the evening being 29.65 in.
