CHARGES OF THEFT.

ARRESTS BY DETECTIVES. THREE YOUTHS IN COURT. Two young men who were arrested at a bach "at Point Chevalier on Tuesday afternoon by Detectives Hunt and Allen appeared in the Police Court yesterday. The youths were Colin William Glass, aged 17, labourer, and Rowland Leslie Rush, aged 19, carpenter, and they were charged with breaking and entering by night the shop of Ada Elizabeth Henderson on June 16 and stealing a quantity of cigarettes and chocolates, a pair of field glasses, a clock, a knife and a brief bag, of a total value of £25. There was a further charge against both of breaking and entering the Blue and White Store in New North Road at. Mount Albert ou June 22 and stoaling a quantity of cigarettes and tins of meat and fruit, valued at £l2, the property of Francis Joyce Marsden. Chief-Detective Hammond applied for a remand until next Thursday. " Thoro will be six charges against these two," he said. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, granted tho remand. A third occupant of tho " bach," a clork, aged 19, appeared on a charge of roceiving a quantity of cigarettes and a shirt, of a total value of 16s, from Rush, knowing them to have beon dishonestly obtained. After the chief detective had obtained a remand until next Thursday Mr. Terry, who appeared for accused, asked that accused's name should bo suppressed until tho charge against him was heard. "This young man is in a good position, and when tho facts are disclosed it will be shown that ho has been tho innocent victim of circumstances," said counsel. " Very well, I will do it until I hear the case; he is very young," said the magistrate, who allowed bail in oito surety of £SO.
