TRAINEES FORGATHER.

REUNION AT THE HOSPITAL j i A somewhat unique occasion was the J reunion of former trainees of the Aack-1 land Hospital, which was held at the, nurses' home yesterday afternoon. About j 70 attended, some of them having started j their work at. the hospital as far back as 1339, and the oldest trainee present was at least 30 years old. The gathering was held in the social hall at the nurses' home, which looked very attractive with bowls of golden Iceland poppies and marigolds. Miss Nutsey, the lady superintendent, received, and was assisted by Miss Broun and Miss Cassen, first: and second, matrons. The hospital sisters were aiso present at the gathering, and were in nmlann, as was Miss Nutsey. Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the Eosp;tai Board, attended the reunion, and in j the course of a short speech welcomed the j trainees. The great advance that had ; been made in the nursing profession was s touched upon, and he contrasted the pres- j ent conditions under which nurses did I their work with those that existed at the time when some of their number first began nursing- Reference was also made to the much-discussed Nurses Bill, which, he said, was no doubt much in their minds at the present momentMusical items, given by past, and present trainees, were very much appreciated. Miss McCnilcngh recited. Miss Barbara Garland sang, Miss- Brane played a flute solo, Miss Underwood a pianoforte solo, and Miss Stokes a violin soio. L'r. C. E. Maimire aiso gave'a recitation. Among those" who were present were representatives from the Hospital Auxiliary, from the Trained Nurses' Association, and from various nursing bodies. They included Mrs. Tracer Inglis, Mrs. H. L. Gould, Mrs. Alfred Kidd, president of the Hospital Auxiliary, Miss Bagley and Miss Mirams, of the Health Department. Mi's. Casement Alckin, Mrs. Walshe, Miss Bird, matron of the ! Gardner, Mrs. Phillips, Miss Evans, Miss Smart, Miss Hooker, Miss Stoke. Before the afternoon ended Mrs. Tracsy Inciis made a brief speech of thanks to 1 Miss Nutsev for the enjoyable afternoon t they had spent, to which Miss Natsey retried.
