LAND VALUATIONS.

ASSESSMENT COURT CASES. PROPERTIES IN THE SUBURBS. Objections to the valuation of land in the Mount Albert, Devonport., Takapuna and Avcndale districts were heard by the Assessment Court when it continued its sitting yesterday. Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., presided, and with him were associated Mr. E. Alien, Government assessor; Mr, C. F. Bennett, assessor for Avondale; Mr. N. Melville, assessor for Devonport; Mr. T. B. Clay, assessor for Mount Albert : and Mr.' C. Atkinson, assessor for Takapuna. A large number of objections were heard and in the majority of cases the valuations were sustained. In eight of the nine objections brought by E. and R. Duder, of Devonport. the valuations were sustained. a reduction in the unimproved value being allowed in one case. The property concerned was a brickworks in Lake Road, and the owners maintained the unimproved value of £5560 was ton high. The objection was allowed, and the Court -decided to reduce the unimproved valuation from £5560 to £SOOO. The Court will conclude its sessions today, when objections will be heard from the Ellerslie, Onehunga and One Tree Hill districts.
