TREATY NEGOTIATIONS. EXPLANATION OF POSITION. British Wireless. RUGBY, Juno 18. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Arthur Henderson, stated in tho House of Commons that no representations regarding tho reopening of tho discussions had been by the Egyptian Government. Tho High Commissioner in Egypt, Sir Percy Loraine,' since his return to Cairo had naturally resumed contact with the Egyptian I'rimo Minister, Nahas Pasha, and had reported that the desire of tho Egyptian Government to reach an agreement with the British Government was not diminished. Asked whether it was intended to leave tho offer open indefinitely, Mr. Henderson answered in the negative, 110 added that up to now the Government had thought it was best to leavo it where it was left at the close of tho recent negotiations. Replying to a further question Mr. Henderson said there was no need for tho British Government to make a further offer of negotiations. Ho had made it clear that the treaty was there when the Egyptians wero prepared to accept it.
