STORM IN ENGLAND.
DEATHS FROM LIGHTNING. FATALITY AT ASCOT. FLOODS IN MANY PARTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, Juno 18. England was to-day visited by a heavy thunderstorm and lightning caused damage throughout the country. The storm was very severe in the London area, where houses and institutions were flooded and the electric train services interrupted. Manchester was deluged and two people were drowned in the Now Mills district. Two men were struck by lightning in the street, one being killeu. The worst thunderstorm in the history of Ascot races broko over the course during the running of tho race for the Royal Hunt Cup. Torrential rain converted the course into a series of lakes. A well-known bookmaker, Mr. Walter Holbein, was struck by lightning and killed. A stand was also damaged. Three other persons on different parts of the course were injured. The remaining races wore abandoned after tho running of the Hunt Cup.
