ACTION BY ASSOCIATION. The general executive of tho Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association decided last evening to form an organisation to relievo tho position of unemployed exservicemen who were not suitable for heavy work. The organisation is to confer with all employers of labour to obtain positions for men fit only for light work, as liftmen, caretakers, lev<M-crossing guards and commissionaires. All tlio men aro to ho of high character and vouched for by the association. It was emphasised that no attempt would Ijo rnado to displace men at present employed in theso capacities, but to ask employers to apply to tho association as positions became vacant. General Sir George Richardson said there was a groat deal of distress among returned soldiers only fit for light work as they could not obtain employment on Government relief schemes.
