WOMEN'S LUNCHEON CLUB.

A most successful meeting of the Women's Luncheon Club was held on Tuesday. Mrs. Kenner introduced Mrs. David Smith, tho new president of the club. Mrs. Smith, in replying to the welcome, stressed the opportunities for friendship which tho club offered. Sbo welcomed tho guests present, particularly those who were visitors to New Zealand. Miss Ida Walker led some spirited singing. The speaker was Miss Vera Hay, who gave somo of her impressions of tho recent conference in Tokio of the Institute of Pacific Relations. Miss Hay briefly explained the foundation and purpose of tho institute, and spoke of the great preparations mado by tho Japanese, both in preparing for tho business session and also 111 extending hospitality to the visitors. She also outlined personalities and some of tho work of tho conference, finishing with a description of somo of the places sho visited. A hearty vote of thanks to Miss Hay was proposed by Mrs. Smith.
