MOTOR-DRIVERS' LICENSES.
A report of the inspecting of motordriven;' licences made by suburban traffic inspectors on Juno 8 was received from tho local inspector at a meeting of the One Tree Iliil Borough Council last evening.
Tlie report stated that (lie inspection had commenced at 9 a.m. and finished at 5 p.m. The direoi; benefit to tho council was shown by the issue of licences, of which 79 were applied for on tiro Monday following the inspection. Tho total number of driving licences issued this year compared favourably with the number for. the corresponding period last year. Tlie total of heavy traffic licences would compare favourably with that for tho previous year.
"It is ray considered opinion that the complaint is exaggerated and largely without justification," the inspector said in his report, in connection with a complaint regarding noise caused by motorlorries 011 the Great South Road between Market Road , and Campbell Road. Members of the council did not agree that the complaint was unjustified, and referred the matter back to the inspector for further investigation. The building inspector reported that nine building permits, representing property to the value of £I4BB, had been issued during tho. past fortnight. Since the beginning of the year 04 building permits had been issued, representing property worth £22,748. The usual donation of £2 2s was made toward tho funds of the Workers' Educational Association, and £1 la was voted to the Inspectors' Association.
