SECONDARY SCHOOLS GAMES. KING'S DEFEATS SACRED HEART. A match in the secondary srhools' Rngby competition was played at King's College yesterday afternoon, when King's defeated Sacred Heart by 13 points to 6. It was a much more even contest than was anticipated. Even play marked the first quarter. From a twenty-five kick Caughey secured and some pretty reverse passing between ibe King's oentre and Jackson resulted in Caughey scoring a fine try. Coles was successful with the kick. Determined play by Sacred Heart carried play to the King's twenty-five. Here Lewis pained possession and after a swerving run. which transferred play to the other end of the field, he just failed to score. Sacred Heart's first points came when from u line-out in the King's twenty-five Kavanagh secured and dived across for a try. The kick failed. King's strove to increase its small margin, but several good attempts failed. Half-time saw the score: King's. 5: Sacred Heart. 3. Persistent efforts by Sacred Heart were rewarded when from a penalty Elliott's kick was successful, and only one point separated the. teams. From loose play Macmdoe gained possession and in a movement in which Howden. Lewis and Caughey handled the last-named scored. Coles converted. A promising movement in which most of the Sacred Heart backs handled met with solid opposition. With n good kick from a penalty half-way between the twenty-five line and midfield Coles increased King's lead. _ In the last quarter Sacred Heart was given many opportunities from infringements on the part of King's, but none of the kicks was successful, and the game ended: King's College. 13; Sacred Heart, C.

KING'S-GRAMMAR FIXTURE

The comparatively close game between King's and Sacred Heart is interesting in view of the King's-Grammar match on Saturday week. On Saturday Auckland Grammar soundly defeated Sacred Heart College, and the drawn game played between King's and Mount Albert pave rise to the anticipation that King's won'd register a high score against Snc-red Heart. From results to date it would appear on paper that the Auckland Grammar team is superior to th 9 King's XV. For the past several seasons both teams have been very evenly matched, and it may be anticipated that this year's contest will again provide bright Rugby.
