OBITUARY.
MRS. MARY MOONEY,
[Br TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.J HAMILTON, Wednesday.
The death occurred at her residence, London Street, Hamilton, yesterday of Mrs. Mary Mooney, at the age of 72 years. Born in County Longford, Ireland, Mrs. Mooney was married to Mr. Joseph Mooney, in 1878, and came to New Zealand in January of the next year, landing- at Napier. For 25 years Mr. and Mrs. Mooney Jived in Hawke's Bay, where Mr. Mooney entered tho railway service. Later tho family moved to Auckland, and, 26 years ago, took up residence in Hamilton, where Mr. and Mrs. Mooney have lived since. Mr. Mooney retired from the railway service, in which ho occupied the position of inspector of permanent way, several years ago. Thero were 12 children of the marriage. Mr. Mooney and eight children survive.
ME. T. R. CLOW

Widespread regret is felt at the death of. Mr. T. R. Clow, proprietor of The Gables, Russell. Mr. Clow was born at Papatoetoo 60 years ago. lio was very well known in that district and in Auckland engineering circles. He was a member of the Papatoetoo Road Board for many years and chairman for some of the time. He was also chairman of the School Committee for several years. Mr. Clow came to RusSell about 12 years ago and had taken a great interest in the affairs of the township. Ho was instrumental in the formation of a town district and was a member of the Town Board, chairman of tho School Committee, president of 'the Bowling Club and secretary of the Methodist Church board of trustees. He leaves a wife and tlireo grown-up children.
MR, SAMUEL JAMES,
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHAK4TANE, Wednesday.
The death has occurred of Mr. Samuel James, ono of the pioneers of tho Whakatane district, at tho ago of 78 years. Mr. James was born at Nelson. He engaged in tho building business and went to Wanganui, where ho married Miss Agnes Dorothy Terry. After living at Wanganui for some years ho "went to Hawkc's Bay, where he combined the business of building and storekeeping. Thirty years ago Mr. and Mrs. James came to this district and Mr. James conducted a general store at Tanoatua for nino years. Then he took up farming at Whakatano and resided in tho district up to the timo of his death. He 13 survived by a widow, one daughter, Mrs. W. L. Richardson, of Opouriao, and ono son, Mr. T. W. James, of Whakatano.
MR. JOHN PIETERSEN. ' [BY TELEGRAM. —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] DUNEDIN, Wednesday,
Tho death occurred at his homo yoster day of Mr. John Pietorsen, at the ago of *6B years. Mr. Pietorsen was a prominent member of tho Dunedin Bowling Club and was a member of the New Zealand bowling team which toured Britain in 1928.
MR. DAVID TODD

A prominent resident of Dunedin, Mr David Todd, whose valuable social work is well known m tho city, collapsed and died to-day while hurrying from his home in Roslyn to catch a car. Mr. Todd was tho fourth son of the Rev. A. B Todd, a Presbyterian minister of Oaniaru. and ho was educated at Oamaru. For many years lie carried on business as a grain merchant in Dunedin, and was a prominent member of Knox Church. Mr. Todd, who was secretary and treasurer of the local volnntarv probation committeo, interested himself keenly in many social questions, and his loss in those spheres of activity will be keenly felt.
