DEATH OF NOTED AXEMAN.
INJURED WHEN IN BUSH.
OPENING OF INQUEST.

An inquest concerning the death of Air. A. Angell, who died from injuries received whilo working in tho bush, was held beforo Mr. W. L. Richards, J.P., acting-coroner, and a jury of four. Dr. Brian G. Thompson, of Kiug George V- Hospital, said Mr. Angell was admitted to tho hospital on June 16 in tho afternoon, from Mokai' ,bush, near Taupo. He was conscious when he arrived, and told witness that his injuries were tho result of something having slipped and hit him. Tho injuries were consistent with a blow from a fairly large object. The cause of death was internal hemorrhage, following laceration Basil Bower, a bushman residing at Orunnui, said ho'had known deceased for 15 years. Ho was a married man, with a wife and threo young children. The inquest was adjourned sino die. Mr. Angell, who livos at Thames, was very well known as an expert bush worlcei. Ho was a prominent competitor in axemen's carnivals and frequently carried off prizes. He possessed a remarkably fine physique, and was a great athleto, and was known in many parts of tho North Island.
