AUCKLAND SAILORS' HOME.
REVIEW OF YEAR'S WORK.
MANY FREE MEALS PROVIDED
The annual meeting of the Auckland Sailors' Homo was held last evening, the president, Mr. G. W. Sanders, presiding. The report stated that the total attendance during the past year was 10,250, being a daily average of 28 men, against a daily average of 31 for the previous year. Lack of funds had not permitted furthor structural improvements to the home, but interior decorations had been improved. The passing of one of the oldest members of the council, the Rev. E. C. Budd, was recorded with deep regret. The accounts showed an adverse balance of £525 2s lid. It was accounted for by the smaller number of men who had used the home during the year and the fact, that free meals and beds to the value of £l2l 17s 6d had been supplied during the year. A letter was received from Earl Jcllicoe, who wrote in appreciation of the good work done by the home. The Hod C. J. Carrington, M.L.C., said the adverse balance was mainly due to the unemployment problem, which had necessitated the provision of a greater number of free meals than usual. The following officers were elected: — Patron, the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe; president, Mr. G. W. Sanders; vice-presidont, Mr. R. T. Michaels; council, Messrs. G. R. Magee, E. H. Potter, D. B. Patterson, W. Tailby-, W. M. Jackson, J. Trevethick, and the Hon. C. J. Carrington, M.L.C.
