TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied l>y Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Fair to fino weather is indicated generally, with milder temperatures, but with increasing cloudiness. There aro indications of the development of a cyclono westward of Norfolk Island, and the Dominion is likely to bo affected after about 48 hours. A change from the westerly to the easterly type of weather is anticipated in the northern districts. Variable and modcrato breezes, easterly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing shortly and freshening at places northward of New Plymouth and Napier. Seas moderate, but gradually increasing on the east coast, particularly northward from East Capo. Local outlook: Fair to fine, , although with increasing cloudiness. Mild temperatures.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last ere'ning as follows:—A depression is crossing the South Island to-day. A cyclono is still situated off the central east coast of Australia, while an extensive anti-cyclone still covers Southern Australia. Indications are for winds veoring northerly and freshening north of Kawliia and Napier, elsewhere southerly setting in and becoming strong at places. Seas rough south of Cape Egmont nnd Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. Moderate easterly to northerly winds in the northern portion of the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate seas; moderate to strong south-westerly winds, with rather rough seas in the southern portion. The weather will bo changeable generally, with scattered showers, morn especially in the South Island, improving shortly in Westland and Olago. Temperatures moderato north of New Plymouth and Napier, cold .thence southwards.
