CHICAGO, June 16. Police-Commissioner Russell and ChiefDetcctivo Stege resigned to-day as a result of the public indignation aroused by the murder of Arthur Lingle, of the Chicago Tribune's reporting staff.
A committee of business men, known as "the secret six," is investigating the activities of criminal gangs. It has announced that it will enlarge the scope of its work and increase its membership to 16.
