ART EXHIBITION.
1 PURCHASES FOR GALLERY.
Six of tlie pictures displayed at tho animal exhibition of the Society of Arts have been purchased by (tic Auckland City Council for the Art Gallery. Tho titles arc: "Evening, Valley Oureke," by ,J. Weeks; "Devonshire Farm JJuildings," by G, Ball; "Winter Sunshine, Italy," by J. Weeks; "The Big Stack," by Pascoo lied wood; "Night, Collins Street, Melbourne," by Pascoo Redwood; and "The Park," by 0. Spencer Bower. Tho proceeds from all the pictures sold total £149. In addition, pictures to tho valuo of £135 10s 'have been awarded as prizes in tho art union conducted by tho society. A total of over £284 has thus been obtained by tho artists from Iho sale of the exhibits.
