KING'S BIRTHDAY.
TROOPING THE COLOURS.
DUKE OF CONNAUCHT TO ACT,
British Wireless. RUGBY, June 1. At the ceremony of tho trooping of the colours on the Horse Guards Parade on Tuesday the salute, by command of His Majesty, will bo taken by FieldMarshal the Duke of Connaught, senior colonel of the Brigade of Guards. It is considered that while any vestige of the King's rheumatic trouble remains it would not bo advisable for him to bear the strain of sitting on horseback for nearlv two hours.
The Duko of Connaught, who celebrated his 80th birthday a month ago, completed his 50th year as Colonel-in-Chief of the Rifle Brigade at a special jubilee parade of tho regiment with its attached territorial Battalions, which ho inspected in Hyde Park. There were assembled 1400 ex-service men of all ranks drawn by invitation broadcast last week, and they marched past their old commander.
