FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP.
COCHET DEFEATS TILDEN.
(Received June 2, 10.23 p.m.) PARIS. June 1. In the final of the men's lawn tennis championship Cochet defeated Tilden, 5_5 ( B—6, 6—3, £r—l, winning the titlo for the fourth time. The match was sensational. It was witnessed by 12,G00 spectators. Tilcien opened brilliantly and won tho first set. They had reached six all in the second set when a doubtful base-line shot was adjudicated in Tilden's favour. '1 ho spectators "booed," shouted and whistled They renewed a disgraceful disturbance when the base line umpires changed another derision aftei Tilden had challenged the point in the next game Tilden wished to abandon the match but finally played on. Cochet winning easily
