Consideration was given to n letter from iho Auckland Swimming Association, asking for financial' assistance toward Bending two Auckland swimmers to the Empire Games. It was docided f.o dor.ato A'2 toward the fluids.
Tlio importance of the selection of a financial ,-and player manager, to' the New Zealand t,eam tp tour Ausli'jilia was, discussed at some length by Mr. C. Adamson. 110 said the New Zealand League should givo duG consideration to nominations from affiliated leagues. l It was : decided to> support the nomination of Mr. W. J, Ilnmmill (financial) and Mr. E. K. Aslier (players). I\lr, Ivan Culpan declined to accept nomination.
Mr. R. Doble, delegate to tho New Zealand Council, reported that a further trial match for selection of the team to Australia would be played as a curtain-raiser to tho North v. South Island fixture on June Li. In tho absence in Wellington of Air. E. Asher, one of tho selectors of tho Auckland team, it was decided to deter (he selection of tho Auckland representatives to play Soulh Auckland until Ilia return on Monday. CHARITY MATCH. A small gathering 'of spectators witnessed a charity game ot, Carlaw Park yesterday when a team representing tho private taxi firms defeated tho Checker taris by 17 points to 13. Tlio match was played in aid of Rev. Jasper CalderV appeal for funds for a dors house. Tho game was uninteresting throughout, and tho private taxi team had all the better of tho game.
