ARREST IN CHRISTCHURCH

The Christchurch police to-day arrested Herbert Edwin Uarnsloy, organiser of llio unemployed organisation in Clirisl.eliureh, <mi a warrant issued at Dannevirko llarnsley appeared later bcl'oro Mr. 11. i\ I<a\vry, S.M., on a cliargo of theft, and was remanded to appear at Dannevirko on Saturday.
The charge against Hanisley, who is described as an accountant, aged <ls, was that on September .30. 1929, at Dannevirke, having received £4 10s on terms requiring 11iin to nnount for it, (o John (I I I »1)S, he fraudulently omitted lo do so, thereby committing theft. Senior-Ser-geant O'flradv asked for a remand foe accused to appear at. Dannevirko. "Your .Worship, J have a little bit of business to do to-day," said Barnslcy. "Could I have (lie privilege of bail until about 6 o'clock I am connected with an organisation hero and I want to hand mat* tors over to inv successor."
The senior-sergeant said other charges were pending. Accused could ho given every facility at the. police station. 'Mou can send out from the station," said the magistrate.
