TOWN-PLANNING MOVEMENT
THE AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION
CHANGE IN ORGANISATION.
A special general meeting of tho Auckland Town Planning Association was held last evening to consider a proposal that the association should bo dissolved and that the members should form themselves info a branch of the Town Planning Institute of New Zealand. The vice-president, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, presided. In presenting the proposal of the subcommittee, y.hich consisted of Messrs. E. V. Blake, R. flili, G. W. Ilitfchison and C. K. Grierson, the chairman briefly summarised tho history of tho association since its inception in March, 1927. At present tho membership stood at 146, arid the financial statement showed a credit balance of £36, while outstanding subscriptions would increase that amount to over £IOO. Now that the Town Planning Institute of New Zealand was in existence, Mr. Hutchison thought the association could not well continue. By becoming part of the Dominion body the local members would be able to wield a greater influence.. Since there was no machinery in existence for affiliation with tho institute, it would lie necessary for the association to dissolve and its members to form a branch of the institute. Provision, however, would In' made for the safeguarding of the association's financial interests. The chairman moved a resolution recommending the association to take steps to wind up on the terms he had indicated. After an account of the aims of the institute by Mr. Grierson, and a general discussion, the motion was carried unanimously.
