FINANCES OF BOROUGH.
FRESH REVALUATION SOUGHT,

PUKEKOITE, Tuesday
The Pukekohe Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. Routley, presiding. In his annual report (he treasurer. Mr. S. Bish, said the financial position of the borough was satisfactory. Tho waterworks account was in credit to tho amount of £550, and the general account had a credit of £250. In the library account there was a credit of .€BB. Tho board of governors of the Pukekolio Technical High School wrote asking for support in an endeavour to have greater provision made in Pukekohe for tho teaching of practical agricultural subjects. It. was decided to refer the letter back for further information. Tho Finance Committee was instructed to report to the next meeting of the council in connection with the allocation of the sum of £IOOO to bo spent upon footpaths. It. was decided to seek authority from (ho Minister ot Internal Affairs to charge for water used in tho borough by tho meter system. Permission to erect a grandstand upon the Domain was sought by the Pukekohe Rugby Union. The matter was referred to the Works Committee. In ordfli to check the activities of hawkers in the principal streets the traffic inspector was asked- to see that al! hawkers were licensed. A grant of £SO was made to tho Pukekohe Band. It was decided to seek a revaluation of the borough. It was stated that sinco the last revaluation, about eight years ago, prices for butter and produce had declined considerably. It- was also considereJ that many faring had originally been valued too highly.
