AWARD TO JOURNALIST.
ANNUAL PULITZER PRIZE. MR. RUSSELL OWEN'S WORK. NEW YORK, May 13. Mr. Russell Owen has been awarded tho Pulitzer Prizo of £2OO for tho best piece of reporting last year. It was contained in his stories of tho j3yrd expedition in tho Antarctic. Tho Pulitzer Prizes and the Pulitzer School of Journalism at Columbia University, New York State, were founded and endowed by the late Joseph Pulitzer. The Advisory Board consists of Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, of Columbia University, and representatives of leading newspapers. One yearly award is for the best example of a reporter's work during tho year, the test being strict accuracy, terseness, and the accomplishment of some public good commanding public attention and respect. Other awards are for the best editorial article, tho best cartoon, tho most meritorious public work dono by a newspaper, the best American novel, work on American history, and book of verso by an American.
