GENEROUS BEQUESTS.
£40,000 UNDER WILL< LATE MR. GEORGE MITCHELL. MOTHERS AND ORPHANS BENEFIT (jirz telegraph.— press association.] ' CHKISTCnURCH, Wednesday. A number of Christchurch charitable organisations will benefit to the extent of about £40,000 through the will of the lato Mr. Georgo Mitchell, formerly of Christchurch, who died at Governor's Bay on April 25. Tho charitable bequests are subject to certain prior bequests and annuities. On the death of the last annuitant the estate will bo divided into five parts. It is expected that too total then available for distribution will bo about £40,000. Two of tho five parts are to bo paid to tho Salvation Army, tho income to be applied in assisting women patients whoso first babies are born at tho Salvation Army Maternity Home in Christchurch, Assistance is to bo given to the mothers when tboy leave tlio institution. Two parts of the total are to be paid to tho Canterbury Hospital Board, the income to be used in providing extra comforts for inmates of tho Jubilee Home, "Woolston. The other part will go to the trustees of tho Presbyterian Girls' Orphanage, to assist girls leaving the institution to make their way in life.
