Mrs. J. To!ley, of Wellington, has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. A. J. Smith, of Napier, is visiting Auckland and is staying at Arundel. Miss Irene Wilson, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland and is staying at Arundel. Mrs. Leslie Kent, of London, is visiting .Auckland and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. E M Silk, of Wanganui, is visiting Auckland and is staying at Hotel Cargen. Mrs. B. T. Roid, of Hamilton, is visiting Auckland and is staying at Hotel Cargen. Mrs. M. C. MacGregor, of Hamilton, is visiting Auckland, and is staying at Hotel Cargen. Miss Gladys Sea roll, of Tirohanga Avenue, I'emuera, is spending a holiday in Botorua. Mrs. Guy Marnier, of Warkworth, is Flavina; with her sister, Mrs, U. Mander, at Milford. Among the guests staying at Hotel Stonehurst are Miss A. E. Eglinton, Miss E. M. Hind, and Miss A. Cooper, all of .Wellington. Mrs. Norman McCorquodale, of Sydney, is visiting Auckland and is the guest of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. T. Philcox, Fairview Boad, Mount Eden. Among tho visitors staying at- Hotel Stonehurst are:—Mr. 11.. G. \. Fear, Sydney; Mr. Win. Cooper, Sydney; Mr. M. Mack ay, Opotiki; Mr. 11. J. MeCubbin, Nelson. Tho keen interest taken in politics was evidenced by a large attendance of ladies of tho" Auckland East Branch of tho United Party at a meeting held on Wednesday evening. Matters of importance effecting the electorate were discussed. It was decided to hold social functions during tho winter, tho first to be held at an early date.
A very jenjoyablo afternoon was spent in the Druids' Hall, Newton, on Tuesday, when members of the Thames Girls' Club held their monthly meeting. The president, Mrs. P. McGregor, was in tho chair. An interesting address was given by Nurse Saunders-Jones. Items were given by Mrs. George, Mrs. Wright and Miss J* McGregor. The meeting concluded with'afternoon tea. A surprise party was given to Miss Kathleen Burling, of Mountain Road, Epsom, by monlbers of the Y.W.C.A. Library Committee. Among those proscut were:—Mrs. Burling, Mrs. St. Clair Inglis, Misses lv. Burling, \V. Mason, B. Wagstaff,,L. French, D. Inglis,,E. Fieldes and I. Little. Miss Burling leaves shortly on a visit to England and was presented - .v.ith a book autographed by the members.
