METEOROLOGICAL.
TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us lay ill-. 11. JNf. Vincent last evening;— The disturbance which was approaching New Zealand from the Tasman Sea appears to be losing intensity, and barometric pressure is still high over the North Island. Pressure has, however, decreased considerably in the south. Another depression is apparent!}' developing north-westward of the Dominion. Meanwhile, tho weather is likely to remain chiefly fair to fine in northern districts, although unsettled at times, with occassional showers. Easterly to north-east-erly winds, moderato to strong, fairly rough seas on the cast coast northward from East Capo, smooth to moderate seas on tho west coast. Local outlook: Still mainly fine, but gradually becoming unsettled, and showers following. Mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 30.35 in. Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 30,<15in.
GOVERNMENT REPORT.
Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A depression is now crossing New Zealand, but has diminished considerably in intensity while crossing tho Tasman Sea. A very intense anti-cyclone has moved on to south-eastern Australia. Indications are for northerly winds, moderato to strong from Canterbury northwards, but the southerlies which are now blowing over Otago and Southland are likely to freshen and extend gradually northward. Sea rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits, and later on parts of the east coast. Elsewhere smooth to moderate. Winds becoming south to south-east in the eastern Tasman Sea and freshening. Seas moderate to rather rough. Weather fair at first in eastern districts, but unsettled weathor and rain extending from the south and west over most of the Domin< ion. Temperatures becoming colder.
